FLEAS

Here at Copia's Kennels, we treat all indoor and outdoor areas regularly to maintain a flea-free environment. We also wash the dog bedding regularly and keep our personal dogs treated for fleas.

In the event that a dog comes in with fleas, there are four options available to you.

Before we proceed with any of the following, the owner will be contacted and asked how they would like us to proceed.

Option 1) We will do nothing to the dog directly.

For boarding dogs, we will isolate the dog from every other dog on the premises and wash the bedding every day. The isolation kennel the dog stays in outside during the day will be treated at night to prevent the fleas from moving to any other dog on the premises. The charge for this is an ADDITIONAL $15 per day.

Option 2) We can give your dog a Capstar tablet, which will kill the fleas on the dog within 30 minutes, but will only last 24 hours. The charge for this is $7 per tablet, PER DAY.

Option 3) We can give your dog a flea bath. The charge for this is $10 for small dogs, $20 for medium dogs and $30 for large dogs.

Option 4) We can treat your dog with Frontline. The charge for this is $25 for small/medium dogs, $35 for large/giant dogs.

If you choose the Frontline, please note that it is not advisable to bathe the dog for at least 4 days AFTER applying the treatment.

IMPORTANT

IF YOUR DOG IS TREATED FOR FLEAS, THE DOG'S ENVIRONMENT MUST BE TREATED ALSO!

OTHERWISE, THE FLEAS WILL GET RIGHT BACK ON THE DOG WITHIN A FEW DAYS.

THIS MEANS TREATING YOUR YARD, YOUR DOG'S BEDDING, AND EVEN YOUR ENTIRE HOUSE.

WE WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR A RETURN OF FLEAS IF YOU DO NOT TREAT THE DOG'S ENVIRONMENT.
